I have perfected my own Vocal Technique that I use in my Vocal Studio. Because the singing voice is grounded by the diaphragmatic breath and placed in the masque, this is a technique that allows my students to sing and perform at their full potential. My students have the confidence to sing and audition the way they know they can. Through my vocal exercises, I help to develop their breath control, range, and vocal quality. As their sound develops and grows, they are able to work this technique into their repertoire and performance style.

Being a professional singer myself, I understand what is required in our business to win auditions and get hired. I understand what casting directors are looking for and I prepare my students for auditions in Opera, Musical Theatre, Jazz and Pop. I understand the importance of working complete roles technically into their voices so they can bring all the drama, excitement and vocal quality to their performances. A singer will never lose their voice if they are singing technically correctly. I also help my students with their resume and career development.

My Voice students sing on Broadway, National Tours, Jazz Clubs, Equity Regional Theatres and Opera companies both in the United States and Abroad. I have been a member of NATS ( National Association of Teachers of Singing) for 18 years. Beginning as a Jazz singer, I have had a professional career singing Jazz, Musical Theatre and Opera. I have sung with leading opera companies, both in the United States and Europe. I have been nominated to be in “Who’s Who in the Arts’ and “Who’s Who in America.”  Please view my “Testimonials” for further information under “Studio.”

VOCAL THERAPY – SINGING VOICE SPECIALIST

In close collaboration with speech therapists at The Scripps Center for Voice and Swallowing, Scripps Memorial Hospital, La Jolla, California, Dianna Ruggiero is a highly regarded Singing Voice Specialist. She works privately in her vocal studio to guide both professional and non-professional singers as well as public speakers to rebuild their voices after vocal injury using singing techniques.

“Dianna is an essential colleague in my practice at the Scripps La Jolla Voice and Swallowing Center, where I care for performers with voice disorders. She intimately understands the etiologies of laryngeal pathologies and collaborates with medical colleagues to most effectively rehabilitate singers. Despite her extensive pedagogical background, she has taken it upon herself to pursue additional training specific to phonotraumatic, hypofunctional and neurological vocal abnormalities. Dianna was well-reviewed as a presenter at our nationally attended Voice and Swallowing Conference, ‘The Perfective Prescription’ in 2009 and 2010. It is an enormous comfort to transition my patients who have completed vocal therapy to a skilled clinician who helps to develop life-long healthy singing habits that ultimately prevent recurrence of injury. Dianna is extraordinarily cognizant of pacing strategies to develop the vocal and physical endurance for safe performances in all musical genres. I had the pleasure of experiencing this first hand in my four years of private study under her expert instruction. Dianna’s skill extends well beyond the clinical realm: she devotes her heart and soul to helping perfect your craft. I suspect it is this warmth, compassion and genuine love that continues to draw students to her studio.”
